In the beginning, God created………..FASHION!

Lady!! July 23, 2012

I felt like a lady today.  I mean, I felt so sophisticated and lady like in my outfit today.

Don’t you love the sun spot in the pic, right on my boobs? Like they are being spotlit! LOL! I still really like this pic though, so I used it anyway.

I just got this outfit from ASOS Curve and it was perfect for the long day, I had today.  I wore it to morning church service and then I wore it to an afternoon church event with the community choir I manage, Antonio D. George and The Excellent Voices of Praise.

I am loving the return of the peplum this season, and when ASOS had a sale, I snagged another one (I have it in Lilac, too).

Peplum Top-ASOS Curve, Midi Pencil Skirt-ASOS Curve, Necklace (old)-Ashley Stewart, Beetle Ring-Rachel Roy@Macys, Pumps (old)-BCBG, Sunglasses-Coach@Sunglass Hut

I tried not to get too crazy with the accessories, but I had to wear my beetle ring from Rachel Roy.  It is an eye catching ring (at least in my opinion).

Ignore my nails. I haven’t had a chance to get to the shop, but what do you think about the ring?

The necklace is something I have had for a while and have barely worn, but I have seen so many women in statement necklaces this summer, I have been looking for an opportunity to pull out some of the ones I have.

I really was feeling this necklace with my outfit today.

I can’t wait to wear this outfit again, together and seperately.  This midi pencil skirt is about to be worn to ribbons and the peplum top will be so cute with cropped, black skinnies.

Well……….it is time for this LADY to shut it down.  Exhausted from a long of praising and worshipping.  I will talk to y’all later.

LONG OVER DUE!!! January 12, 2012

Hey y’all, hey!!! Happy New Year!!!  I haven’t posted in a minute and that is why the title of this post is……….long overdue.  LOL!

I had a great holiday!  I really, really did and now I am convinced Christmas should fall on a Sunday every year.  I had a great holiday weekend of family gatherings and new traditions with my children.  Here are a few pics of one of the outfits I wore.

Arriving for a family holiday event.

I call this outfit, Italian Ice or Spumoni. It just reminds me of those food items. *shrug* Top-American Rag@Macy's, Jeans-American Rag@Macy's. Boots-Nine West@Macy's

After a nice 2 weeks off and a lovely holiday, it was back to the salt mines.  I went back to work looking good and well rested (at least in my opinion).  I wore a color, that I have avoided for years, green.  I am so in love with that color right, now.  I picked up a few pieces before the holiday and I just love them.

Green Day! LOL!

The shoes are super cute to me, but honestly I could not wear them all day and walking to my car after work……………………..a challenge!

Super cute!

I just liked this photo. *Kanye shrug*

What do you think about my outfits?  Are you feeling the green?  Let me know.  TTYL!

Sportin’ my sky! July 24, 2011

Good day, people!!!! You ever buy an item, that you LOVE, and you envision exactly how you want to wear it but you are missing some pieces?  Ok, that is what happened with the sky (hat for the uninitiated) I wore today.  *full disclosure* I have a HUGE head! I can rarely find a hat that will fit my head.  So………I visit one of my fave stores, ForLove 21, with my daughter and see this hat.  I mention to her, how much I love that style and with no expectation that it will fit, try the hat on.  OMGoodness, the durn thing fit!!!!! My daughter is surprised.  I am……………………stunned and I look at the price tag. $10.50?!  Oh, ahn, ahn! I run to the register *dancing an imaginary jig in my head* and pay for my hat!

I bragged for days, to anyone that would listen, about my new hat.  I had this vision of myself in the hat, with an off the shoulder, peasant style, dress on and cute, black sandals; jingling, gypsy bangles and my Versace sunglasses.  Oh, Oprah! I was going to turn……………………………whatever place, out!

*sigh* Alas, I never did find an inexpensive version of the dress and the hat languished on the top of my dresser for months.  I can’t be the only person that does this; buy an item with visions of the perfect outfit and you let the item just collect dust while waiting on the “perfect” pieces to match it with.   Ok, maybe I am the only weirdo (nee dum-dum) that does that.

Well anywhoo, a couple of days ago I pulled that hat out and wore it with an old, black maxi skirt.  I just couldn’t take it anymore.  I didn’t take pics of that outfit because……………….well I just wasn’t feelin’ it.  Today, however, I wore my hat again!

I just wanted to wear it!   I just love the way I feel when I wear it.  Sexy, diva-ish, classy, mysterious, just fabulous.

I wore this to church today and well…………….*in my JJ from GoodTimes voice* you know, what can I say! Here’s a pic with my face showing, but typically you can’t see my face in this hat (I LOVE THAT!!!).

There's my face. No makeup today, folks! Too hot!

What do you guys think?  How cute is this dress (I got it on sale at Macy’s about a week ago)?  Leave comments folks and I will ttyl!

Whatcha doin’ Wednesday night? July 14, 2011

Hello, all!  Well, as promised I am doing another OOTD post with my fave white jeans.  I wore them to bible study yesterday, which is my typical Wednesday night activity. Now I don’t always look like this for bible study, but…………………..many times I do, because a) most of the time I am coming to church after being at work and b) sometimes I just wanna wear my stuff.  One of the reasons I blog, is to show the world that just because you are a born-again Christian,  doesn’t mean you are boring, plain, and/or dull; not all of us are stuck on wearing, “I’m too Blessed, to be Stressed” T-shirts and “Mom” jeans.

Anyways.  I paired the jeans with a new top, that I love.

Top-Charter Club @ Macy's, Jeans-Ashley Stewart, Pumps-Steve Madden @ Macy's

The detailing around the collar and the sheerness of the top, just spoke to me.

This isn't the best picture, but the collar has white beads and studs. Cute!

It said, “Buy me! Buy me with your credit card and 20%off coupon!”.  So, I did and here we are.

I plan to do a few more posts with the white jeans ( I so wish, I had picked up another pair when I had the chance).  I want to do a super casual look and another look inspired by a Dots blog post, but tell me what you think about this look.  Do ya’ like my top? Leave a comment and let me know.  TTYL!

BACK TO BASICS! May 11, 2011

Monday, I was having one of those mornings that you sometimes have.  *so now you know this isn’t a OOTD, but more like an OOTOD-Outfit of the Other Day* I didn’t know what to wear to work, but I know I wanted to look good to lift my spirits (you know, the Monday Moanin’ Blues).  I winded up throwing on my go to color and last summers go to pants.  I felt so cute all day!  I had to kinda stay out of the limelight, because the tank I wore was a little boobalicious.   When I had to come out of my office, I made sure to keep my jacket closed out of respect for the raging hormones of middle school boys (and middle aged men).

Tuxedo style Blazer-Roaman's, Tank-Macy's, Harem Pants-ASOS Curve, Wedge Sandals-Nine West @ Macy's, Rhinestone Ring-ForLove21 (if you can see it. LOL!)

I just felt so good in this outfit and what better way to start the work week off, than feeling confident and uber-attractive *wink*.  Tell me what you think, y’all.

Me love color long time! April 15, 2011

Hey y’all! It has been so long since I did a post!  I am excited about spring/summer and have just been enjoying the warmer temps.  Anywhoo, I have mentioned in previous posts, that I want to add more color to my wardrobe.  I tend to stick to black and black is my favcrite color, but I was really intrigued by the pops of color I was seeing all over the place.  I decided to pick up colorful pieces, where I could, and try out a different look.

Coral Top-Dots, Grey Jeggings-Levi's@Macy's, Blue Suede Pumps-Steve Madden@Macy's

Now the outfit above, is one I wore to work on yesterday.

The shoes got a little dusty when I walked thru the staff parking lot, but they are still super cute and I got a lot of compliments on them.

I got the shoes about a month ago, while shopping with a friend at Macy’s.  I saw them on another young lady in the shoe dept. and begged her to buy those shoes for herself, because they were gorgeous on her.  I thought about it and said to myself, “Step out of the box and see if they have the shoes in your size!”  You see the result.  The coral top, similar story. Standing in line at Dots, the woman in front of me had the top in her hand and I asked her if it was plus size (she was kind of in-between. She could go XL or 1X *shrug*).  She said, “Yes” and pointed me to the back of the store where they were hanging.  I grabbed my cute wedges I was picking up (the one and only 11 in the store) and hustled to the back to find my size.  The rest is history.

So……….this is my attempt at A) adding color to my life and B) doing a color block thing.  I have to say, I am really loving wearing color,  doing some new things with my wardrobe, and stepping outside of my black box.  Tell me what you think, people.

Grey’s/Gray’s Anatomy March 29, 2011

I am doing a twofer today.  I have pics of an outfit I wore on this past Sunday and the outfit I wore today.  I have just been lovin’ grey/gray (am I the only person who gets confused about which spelling of grey/gray to use? *shrug*)!  I have picked up so many grey/gray pieces lately, it’s ridiculous.  I am kinda leaning towards grey/gray and taupe/blush/nudes, as my colors for spring/summer (I’ve  got alot of backslashes in this post. What’s up with that? LOL!).

Anywhoo.  I recently purchased a super-cute, leather jacket from Roaman’s and I love it!  I wore it Sunday, just because.  Today, I wore more grey/gray.  I am on a shopping punishment for the month of March, but I could not pass up these Levi skinny jeans.  They are fab and I LOVE them.  They are fast, becoming my go-to jeans for the season.

I love grey/gray!

I have many, many plans for them (picture royal blue suede pumps and a coral top. *sista girl look* I’m just sayin’.).

So here are my pics from Sunday and today.  Tell me what you think.  Are you feelin’ grey/gray, like I am?  Let me know.  TTYL!

Rerun! February 18, 2011

The perk of working at two schools is, I can wear an outfit twice in a week or twice in a two-week period.  I finally wore my velvet shorts and tweeted about wearing the outfit earlier this week.  I didn’t take pics the first go round, but I took pics today.  I really wanted to wear the shorts with some knee high boots, but I didn’t want to stunt on the staff and students, too hard!

You have a very short window of opportunity to wear velvet, so i’m wearing the STANK out these shorts before the official start of spring.

Take a look at the pics and tell me what you think.  TTYL!

It is amazing what a little sunshine and temps above 40, can do for the spirit!  Today I felt like I have not felt since…………………………………..September.  OMGoodness!  I actually went out today, without a coat.  Now I know this is the type of weather that will make a person sick, but I just didn’t care.  I got up this morning, threw on some jeans, boots, sweater and rolled out *fist pump*  I hope your day was as fantastic as mine.  I’ll talk to y’all later!

DEO VOLENTE-SPRING FEVER!!! January 31, 2011

As I sit here, debating whether to run to the store in a panic to prepare for the *booming male announcer voice* WINTER BLIZZARD OF 2011, I get increasingly irritated and anxious because I am………SICK OF WINTER!  I am tired of dirty, slushy snow. I am tired of blistering, windy cold days! I am tired of grey, dark mornings that make me want to just get back under the covers. I have actually started to envy bears; they get to sleep through this mess and then come out in the spring  and create havoc at picnics! I want to be able to do that!  *big sigh* Alas, I am not a bear. I am big, yes. I am black, yes, but I am not a bear.  So………. I will dream of spring as I dread going to the store and picking through whats left on the shelves (people have been raiding the stores all weekend. The only thing probably left on shelves is pickled beets, hominy, and olives with pits.)

I have, what is commonly referred to as,  spring fever.  I don’t typically experience this level of longing for sunny, snow free days (interspersed with grey, rainy days) until the first of March.  I guess I am just getting older. *shrug*   The slow, insidious creep of whites, corals, nautical stripes, and cotton trenches in stores, magazines, and catalogs, just fuels my desire for longer and brighter days.

So………I have been keeping an eye on the trend reports, leafing through the fashion mags, and dog-earring catalogs.  I love so much of what I see, but a few things have really stuck out for me and I am hoping (praying *wink, wink*) that I will be able to pick up a few of these items for the spring.

The trend I LOOOOOOVVVVEEEE the most, is the 70′s style trend.  I am a child of the 70′s and I have fond memories of the chic, easy, hip look of my mother and other women in that era.  I think I would look so good in this look, because some of the styles are so forgiving and so much more appropriate for women with some meat on their bones.

Ok, so here are pics of items I have on my Deo Volente (Latin for God Willing) list, that I feel I must have for spring to live out my 70′s, boho chic, Mary Tyler Moore, Diana Ross. Thelma from Good Times, fantasy.

Trouser Jeans-Alloy Very Ali McGraw or Mahogany.

Peachy Blouse-Dorothy Perkins "I'm going to break the glass ceiling and become the first woman junior v.p."

Jumpsuit-Anna Scholz for SimplyBe I love it! Visions of Disco's are dancing in my head. Hellloooo!

Kooba-I just love this bag and have been wanting a Kooba for so long! I would for sure carry it, when wearing flare or wide leg jeans and trousers.

Mule by Chinese Laundry-How "Three's Company" is it?

Rose Bunch Flute Sleeve Dress-ASOS Curve How cool and cute is this? If my head weren't so big, I could see me wearing a big floppy hat with this (seriously, its hard for me to buy hats)

*sigh*  These are really just a taste of things I want for Spring/Summer, but they are at the top of the list.  What are you feeling for spring?  Bold colors, prints, white (I have done all white, everyday, the past few summers), or stripes?

Well, I better get a move on.  Get as many pickled beets and olives with pits in the larder as I can, so my son and I won’t starve during the big, winter storm.  TTYL!
