In the beginning, God created………..FASHION!

Sportin’ my sky! July 24, 2011

Good day, people!!!! You ever buy an item, that you LOVE, and you envision exactly how you want to wear it but you are missing some pieces?  Ok, that is what happened with the sky (hat for the uninitiated) I wore today.  *full disclosure* I have a HUGE head! I can rarely find a hat that will fit my head.  So………I visit one of my fave stores, ForLove 21, with my daughter and see this hat.  I mention to her, how much I love that style and with no expectation that it will fit, try the hat on.  OMGoodness, the durn thing fit!!!!! My daughter is surprised.  I am……………………stunned and I look at the price tag. $10.50?!  Oh, ahn, ahn! I run to the register *dancing an imaginary jig in my head* and pay for my hat!

I bragged for days, to anyone that would listen, about my new hat.  I had this vision of myself in the hat, with an off the shoulder, peasant style, dress on and cute, black sandals; jingling, gypsy bangles and my Versace sunglasses.  Oh, Oprah! I was going to turn……………………………whatever place, out!

*sigh* Alas, I never did find an inexpensive version of the dress and the hat languished on the top of my dresser for months.  I can’t be the only person that does this; buy an item with visions of the perfect outfit and you let the item just collect dust while waiting on the “perfect” pieces to match it with.   Ok, maybe I am the only weirdo (nee dum-dum) that does that.

Well anywhoo, a couple of days ago I pulled that hat out and wore it with an old, black maxi skirt.  I just couldn’t take it anymore.  I didn’t take pics of that outfit because……………….well I just wasn’t feelin’ it.  Today, however, I wore my hat again!

Hat-ForLove21, Dress-INC @ Macy's, My old standby wedge sandals-Nine West (last year), Handbag-Coach

I just wanted to wear it!   I just love the way I feel when I wear it.  Sexy, diva-ish, classy, mysterious, just fabulous.

I wore this to church today and well…………….*in my JJ from GoodTimes voice* you know, what can I say! Here’s a pic with my face showing, but typically you can’t see my face in this hat (I LOVE THAT!!!).

There's my face. No makeup today, folks! Too hot!

What do you guys think?  How cute is this dress (I got it on sale at Macy’s about a week ago)?  Leave comments folks and I will ttyl!

Sunday Ramblings (Seriously! I am just rambling. LOL!) July 3, 2011

*rant*I love everything about summer except the heat!  I just got in from church and the blazing heat from door to car, car to door, makes you want to run back to the altar in case you missed something! I cannot go to hell!  Ok, now that I got that out…………..I have learned to enjoy this season.  The past few summers, I have not worked summer school, so I have had time to relax and enjoy the simple things in life (vis a vie, lay around the house and do free/cheap stuff, cuz I ain’t gots no money!) and that makes me really enjoy summer even more.  I get to spend time with the kiddos, go to the $1 show, have picnics; just enjoy myself (now if my soaps Guiding Light and As the World Turns were still on, I would be in hog heaven).

Anywhoo, I just got back (Tuesday) from my cruise to the Bahamas, via Miami, and I had an awesome time (pics later).  I missed my church family, so I couldn’t wait to see everyone today.  I enjoy service all the more because I don’t have to get home and get stuff ready for the work week (I will work my retail job tomorrow, but that is later in the day and I can zone out on that job for a few hours).

It is the first Sunday and traditionally, in a lot of churches, you wear all white.  I wore my white today and it felt so easy and breezy in the heat.

I have been looking for a nice white clutch for awhile, but I haven’t found one that was just right (kickin’ myself for not getting a  Jessica Simpson white clutch I saw, a few years ago).  I decided to carry a natural colored, woven clutch instead and I think it looks ok.  I like it because it is just the right size (I try not to carry small purses) and it has the wristlet thingy.

Clutch w/the wristlet thingy, handle, whatever. *my fave ring from ForLove21*

Sidebar, I got about 2 or 3 shades darker in the Bahamas, but my MAC Mineralized pressed powder……………………..WHOO! That stuff is great!  You may not be able to tell from the pics, but it just gives you a glow.  I top it off with MAC Ambering Rose blush and I am good to go.  Ok.  Well, I am off to my sister’s marriage celebration bbq. I will talk to y’all later. Leave comments! I love to hear from folks. Bye!

On my way to church. God is so AWESOME to me, that I have to give him some of my time!

STREET STYLE! *sorta* June 13, 2011

It has been so long since I posted, but this is a busy, busy time of the year for me on my job along with some other drama (some good, some not so  good).  Anywhoo, it’s not that I haven’t been taking pictures of outfits or that I didn’t have anything to blog about, it’s  just………………………..*sigh*

Anyway.  Today I took some pics in the street in front of my house,  before going to work.  I threw this on, because today was one of those perfect days (at least in my book), that was sunny, not cold, but not so hot you couldn’t wear a jacket or shrug.  I love these types of days. It allows you to be so creative with your wardrobe.   Now, I wouldn’t say my outfit of the day was that ”creative”, but it allowed me to mix and match, something old and something new.

Thong Sandal-Anne Klein @ Macy's

You can’t see my shoes (YAY!!! I love a super long maxi dress!), so here is a pic. *side note* There was a recent pic of LeBron James, that stirred some controversy, because it looked like he had a sixth toe.  This picture of my foot, may stir up some of the same controversy, but know that I don’t have a sixth toe, I just need to get to the shop. Real talk.  LOL!

I also wore my fave silver (or silver tone) jewelry today. My silver bamboo hoop earrings and a rhinestone ring I got a few months back.  I love this ring! It is edgy, cute, different, eye catching.  I forget what kind of bird it is supposed to be, but…….. *shrug*

Rhinestone Ring-ForLove21 *not a great picture*

Ok so,  I will be blogging more, as the school year comes to an end (this is my last week) and I will for sure have some pictures from the cruise I will be going on, the end of this month.   So, toodles!  ;^)

Guess what? Chicken Butt! March 20, 2011

I really like this jacket!

Hey y’all!  Since my last post, I am feeling much better.  Have problems been solved? Have situations been resolved? Not completely, but if I have learned nothing else in this Christ walk, it is to BE STRONG and TAKE COURAGE (Psalm 31:24 ESV!  To that end, no matter what is going on, I try not to isolate myself from my source of strength, the word of God and the people of God.

That means for me, making my way to the church house for bible study and Sunday service.  My attendance and participation, edifies me; reminds me of my hope and helps me to maintain my focus on Christ.

At the end of the day………………………………….God’s got me!

Ok, so………….I have pics from church service today. I love this jacket, but for some reason when I wear it, I feel like I should be cluckin’ and peckin’.   Weird?  I know. LOL!

Not the best frontal photo, but.........*shrug* Jacket-American Rag@Macy's, Tank-Merona@Target, Skirt-Ashley Stewart, Pumps-INC@Macy's, Bracelet-ForLove21

A ballerina princess.......30 years later. LOL!

*giggle, giggle* I love this outfit so much, I wore it to work Friday, I wore it to church today, and I plan to wear it again, very soon.  *DON’T JUDGE ME!*

So anyway, when I wore it to work on Friday, one of the school safety officers told me I look like a princess. I ran with it. *shrug*

This outfit is a compilation of my recent obsessions: Juicy Couture, Net Stockings (Fishnets, Diamond Nets, Industrial Net, all net stockings), and anything ASOS.

When I really love an outfit or a piece, I will find a reason, any reason, to wear the STANK out of it!  Combine the gift of a Juicy Couture Charm Necklace and my love of this ASOS tutu, one of my favorite recent adds to my wardrobe, and you get an old lady walking around town thinking she is really cute.  *big, cheesy grin

What do you think of my Chanel-ly, princess look?

HAPPY NEW YOU!!!!! January 3, 2011

OMGoodness!!!! It has been almost a month since I posted and I feel really bad!  I have been really busy at my part-time job (the retailer that shall not be named) and when I say busy, I mean busy.  Almost 40 hours a week, in addition to my full-time job.  That should explain my last post.  There was so much more I could have added to that list, but the holidays are over and I won’t go there.

Anywhoo.  I had a wonderful holiday with family and friends and the new year is looking promising.  2010 had its ups and downs, but all in all, God was with me.  I lost weight in 2010, started working on my Masters in Counseling, watched my daughter graduate from high school and go off to her first year of college, and turned 40.  I am speaking success and victory in my life, in every area.  I am feeling good about myself and feel like now, unlike in my youth, I know who I am and I love who I am. :^)  It is a blessing to have a good self-concept, high self-esteem, confidence, and a positive outlook on life.  I know who I am and I am a happy new me!

Ok, now on to my next favorite subject after myself;  fashion and shopping.

The perk of working retail, is you get a first look at upcoming trends, incoming items, and…………………… sale and clearance items.  I will be honest, I shop while I work.  I am constantly on the lookout for things that are being reduced and *Billy Bob Thornton in Slingblade voice* ……I done good, this season!

I will of course be posting pics and I will be posting a new Deo Volente list, real soon.

I am going to kick off the year with some pics from my aunt’s retirement party and my New Year’s Eve outfit.

The dress I wore to my aunt’s retirement party is one of my favorite dresses, that I have had for a couple of years.  It is a classic example of the perks you get working in retail.  This dress was designed similar to some Calvin Klein and Tahari dresses that were in the store the season I bought it and I watched and waited for it to go on sale.  It did and I got it for less than $30.  The picture may not show how the skirt is khaki with a metallic sheen.  The dress is sleeveless and I love to wear it with a black cardigan.  This particular evening, I did something different and wore fishnet stockings with my BCBG peeptoe pumps. *side note* I LOVE BCBG shoes!!!! They are so comfortable!   I carried a little black and gold clutch I got from ForLove 21 for about $5.

*please note-my NYE pics were taken on a camera phone, so…….LOL!*

My NYE outfit. Corduroy Leggings-Hue, Wedge Booties-Nine West, Tank-Ashley Stewart, Jacket-American Rag

The detailing on this jacket is so cute!!! :^( I wish I had better photos, but I will be wearing it quite often and I have it in gray, too.

I hate that you can’t get a good look at my outfit, because it is SUPER CUTE!  I wore it to work and then to church for our NYE party.  It is another example of items hitting your department and you snag them.  A couple of the items I have on, were dirt cheap.

Well…………I hope everyone had a great holiday season and I pray 2011 brings you joy, peace, success, happiness,  and takes you to a new level in every facet of your life.  Remember, the Lord loves you and I do, too!  HAPPY NEW YOU and HAPPY NEW YEAR!  TTYL!

Once you go Black………… November 18, 2010

*big sigh* I really thought I was looking cute when I wore this outfit the other day (*giggle* I did look cute), but looking at the photos below,  I had an epiphany.  I need to add some more color to my wardrobe.

Black is my favorite color and a requirement for my part-time retail job (at the retailer that must not be named).  I back off of it in summer months and wear all white.   However, my fall/winter wardrobe is 90% black.  In the next few weeks, I am going to make a concerted effort to add some color to my closet.  What’s your favorite color?

My all black, as usual. LOL! Jacket-Ralph Lauren, Pants-Gap Premium Collection, Turtleneck-Lane Bryant, Shoes-Nine West, Chandelier Earrings-ForLove21

I love these shoes!!!

OOTD-Churchin! November 1, 2010

This is just a brief post.  I went to church today (self-righteous smirk-JK!).  I love to look nice on Sunday morning.  Now I don’t hit the mark every Sunday, but I give it a good faith effort.  I sing on the Praise and Worship team, so I am out front every Sunday morning, and that takes planning and preparation ( I’m not just talking about the singing).  I need to be dressed for comfort and movement.  I can’t just stand there like a statue, so I am moving around and dancing; sometimes working up a sweat.  So………you dress in layers and wear shoes that are comfortable.

Most of the time we have to wear all black, with simple jewelry.  This is so we don’t distract the audience while we are singing.  If you notice, alot of background singers wear all black, the focus is supposed to be on the star.  It helps that black is my favorite color.  However, sometimes we (I) deviate from the norm.  Today, I stepped out in grey instead of black.   I wore a really cute sweater I picked up from Target for about $4, a satiny pencil skirt I pilfered from daughters closet, my Jessica Simpson black pumps ( I stood in those shoes for almost an hour; my feet eventually just went numb) and some accesories from ForLove 21. Tell me what you think.
